Way back when…….
I graduated as a mature student , from Cornwall College in 2006 with an FdA in Fine Art Practice and went on to have many successful exhibitions with my abstract textural paintings in mixed media on canvas.
I have been exploring Fused Glass techniques for many years now and have completed several courses including NCFE in 2010. I am offering classes for beginners and experienced fusers.
I live in Carbis Bay, St Ives in Cornwall, therefore I am greatly inspired by the sea and like to incorporate texture into my glass work and experiment with various techniques and materials to achieve the effect I want.
I like to use float glass as this is affordable and enables me to experiment with lots of different materials. However, I do use the more expensive Bullseye glass when making jewellery and for commissions.
Many fusers try to eliminate bubbles in their work but I love bubbles and deliberately use powders and other techniques to incorporate them into my glass pieces. I also experiment with metal oxides and metal inclusions to create texture.
Many of my glass pieces are similar to my paintings and are reminiscent of rock pools, stormy seas, sunsets and beaches.
I am looking forward to passing on my skills in day and evening workshops, in a fun friendly environment at an affordable price. All details are on my Workshop page.
